I began teaching mindfulness in 2009 and currently teach Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses for the general public, as well as follow-up courses and retreats in Newcastle and Northumberland. I also deliver tailor-made mindfulness-based training to schools, workplaces and other organisations.
From 2009 to 2012, I was involved in developing and teaching open access mindfulness courses for NHS patients in the North East, and in setting up a Community Interest Company to deliver mindfulness-based services. In 2014, I joined the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP) where I have taught teacher training retreats and continuing professional development workshops, as part of the Core Training Team. I have a professional background in social work, working with disabled children and their families, and as a Director of a social enterprise providing foster care services.

I have previous experience in social work supervision, and have mentored and supervised mindfulness teachers since 2011. I have attended CMRP training in mindfulness supervision.
I have a particular interest in supervising teachers who are in the early stages of developing their MBSR teaching.
I have been committed to a daily sitting and yoga practice since 2007. Although I was instinctively (if sporadically) drawn towards yoga and meditation for many years, my introduction to mindfulness during a significant personal transition was the beginning of more in-depth study and committed practice. I have benefitted greatly from teacher-led retreats with Vipassana and Insight Meditation teachers, including SN Goenka, Christina Feldman, Martine Batchelor and Gregory Kramer. My retreat experience has also included a month-long silent retreat (Gaia House) and three months as a retreat volunteer in New Mexico.
Exploring and practising mindfulness have helped me to face personal challenges creatively, and to appreciate life more fully. It brings me closer to being fully human, cultivating both a greater acceptance of life as it is, as well as more compassion, for myself and other people, in the midst of it.
I am deeply grateful to my own supervisors and place a high value on the shared learning potential within the supervision process.
